Dedication Day

On Sunday, we had a double baby dedication for Natalie and Wyatt. Wyatt was adorable in his little outfit and Natalie was gorgeous in her dress (made from a vintage wedding gown).

Both babies were so good during the ceremony. Natalie was so relaxed that she actually fell asleep in the middle of it. Afterwards, the whole family had lunch in the fellowship hall. We are so blessed to have such a close family. I don't know what I'd do without them.

Finally, a Bumbo!

I've been wanting to get Natalie a Bumbo seat since before she was born, but since she couldn't use it right away, we waited. We finally got her one last week and she loves it. Today she sat with Joe while he was paying bills.

And then she got bored with bill paying, and started playing with her favorite rattle.

Baby Talk

Natalie loves talking to her Daddy. Last night they had some serious conversations on the living room floor.

SNOW!

The weather people have been predicting snow for a couple of days now and I've been so excited that Natalie might get to see her first snowflake. I was so disappointed when I woke up this morning and there was no snow (it wasn't even all that cold out). But, around 9:00 this morning, the temp started dropping and it started snowing. It was so pretty. It didn't snow much - just enough to make the trees look pretty and make a mess on the ground, but there was no way I was missing the chance to bundle up Nat and take her out to experience snow for the first time.

Play Time

7am: One of Natalie's favorite things to play with is this big, colorful caterpillar. She looked so cute this morning that I had to snap a few pics.

7pm: Dad was holding Natalie tonight while I fixed her cereal and when I walked back in the room, this is what I saw:

I guess her other favorite toy is her Papa!

<< Rewind: Nat's First Christmas

I'm sure Natalie had no clue it was a special day, but I loved her first Christmas. Here are a few pictures.

I"ll post more Christmas pics soon. There seems to be a problem with downloading them right now.

chinese buffet, quesadillas, and car keys

Here's the rundown of our most eventful night this week . . .

On Tuesday, Natalie & I were out shopping and decided to meet Joe for dinner when he got off work. I was starving and craving some chinese buffet so we met at Jade Palace. We went in and were told that they only have a buffet at lunch time. I was sad but still starving, so we decided to go somewhere with quick service. We ended up at Habaneros where I had a yummy quesadilla.

When we got up to leave, I couldn't find my car keys anywhere. I searched Natalie's bag and then figured that they were probably still in my car. I was right. In my hurry to get food, I locked the keys in the car. It was time for Natalie to eat and she was getting fussy so I went back in Habaneros and asked if I could sit in there and feed her. While I did that, Joe took his car to the auto store and bought a slim jim. He got back and tried for about 20 mins. to unlock my door. By this time Natalie has finished eating and she and I are just camped out in the booth in Habaneros (getting strange looks from other customers and waiters who didn't know why we were just sitting there). Joe was having no luck with my door lock so I decided to call AAA. When I called, they told me that I'd used my 4 free service calls for the year and that I'd have to pay $65 if they sent someone out. I told them nevermind.

Joe continued to fight with my locks for another 45 minutes to the amusement of everyone having dinner in Habaneros. Joe was determined to open my doors himself, but after an hour of trying, I insisted that we call a locksmith. We called, he came... and charged $45. He used some weird tool (not anything close to a slim jim) because apparently my car can't be opened with a slim jim.

We finally made it home around 9pm.

I'm blaming this entire escapade on Jade Palace.

<< Rewind: Midnight Mass

Finally! I've wanted to go to Christmas Mass for as long as I can remember so I was super excited when our friends Adam and Becky invited us to go with them this year. Keep in mind that I've only ever seen it in movies, so I wanted to go to a giant cathedral with a big, beautiful choir. . . and I wanted it to be snowing, of course.

Adam tried his best to give me the "movie" experience I wanted, so he took us to the Christmas Eve Midnight Mass at the Cathedral of St. Paul in Birmingham. (That's a picture of the cathedral we went to.) It was absolutely gorgeous!

So I walked up the steps of that beautiful cathedral, sat with my family and listened to the blessings of the priest and to the choir singing Christmas carols in Latin and it felt like Christmas - finally. The shopping was finished, the family parties were over, for a couple of hours the hustle and bustle stopped and we sat together and remembered what the holiday was really about.

<< Rewind: Rice Cereal

(There have been some important events in the past few weeks that I want to blog about, so I'll be playing catch up for these first few posts.)

On Christmas Eve, Natalie had rice cereal for the first time. It was definitely a learning experience for everyone involved. She loved the cereal, but we seemed to get just as much (if not more) on her face as we got in her mouth. It was worth the mess though, because that night she slept from 10:00pm until 6:00am. Mommy and Daddy love cereal!!!

We're now on week 3 of cereal eating and Nat's doing great with it. It took a few days, but we've both finally got the hang of it. It's still messy, but not nearly as bad as the first time. I think we'll try Barley next.

Welcome to Our World

After seeing Jinger's blog (and loving it), I decided to create one for us. I hope you enjoy reading about our day to day adventures. Hopefully this will make it easier for us all to keep up with each other. I have several things already that I plan on blogging about, so check back soon.
